Why is My Story Plate made with bamboo fibre?
Bamboo fibre is an eco-friendly material as it is biodegradable. As bamboo is the fastest growing plant on Earth, it is a sustainable and renewable form of material. Bamboo is a natural material that is anti-bacterial and toxic-free.
What do the images on the plate represent?
The thematic designs can be used for storytelling:
The Unicorn – Blossom, the unicorn is disappointed when it rains. With a little
patience, the rain clears up and she is rewarded with a rainbow sighting.
Tips for parents: discuss emotions such as disappointment, sadness and anger,
and how to manage these feelings. Share about the virtue of patience and
delayed gratification.
The Race Car – Charlie, the race car is off to a slow start, but he soon gets ahead. Unfortunately, his engine catches fire causing him to lag behind. Despite this setback, he gives it his all and emerges the champion!
Tips for parents: discuss emotions such as uneasiness and feeling scared and the importance of self-confidence, resilience and giving it your all. It is perhaps also a good opportunity to discuss about safety issues as after all, it’s not always about winning!
How do I best utilise the plate?
Portion out food into the pods. Experiment by separating the different food types or by mixing up the food. Encourage your child to use his/her hands to explore the various food textures or to scoop up food with a small spoon. Allow your child to either move progressively from Pod 1 to 5 or in any way he/she prefers.
